What gen did you get to drive? Was it an NC? Because my NB gates are nicely spaced, I haven't had any issues with shifting at all.

NC, I swear that the whole pattern could fit between my E36's first 4 gears.

I kept going into 5th instead of 3rd and it was frustrating.

The motor mounts or diff mounts could have been going as that can cause the 2-5 mis-shift. But if you think the Miata has a tight box you should give an S2000 a whirl they are even tighter. . .

Yeah early NC1 were like that. 08+ They seem to have fix the issue.
